In 2019, media outlets cited TikTok as the 7th-most-downloaded mobile app of the decade, from 2010 to 2019. According to sources, 39% of the TikTok global users are from India.

UC Browser is a web browser developed by a China-based company. The reason behind its popularity is that it has the capability to render fully-functional revamped pages more suitable for slow network connections, which is 2G. It saves up to 79% more data than Google Chrome. However, research has found that UC Browser is insecure, with many vulnerabilities and privacy issues. It has been sending user data to Chinese servers and it retains control over a user's device DNS even after the browser is deleted.
